Close terminal location

In intermodal transport, it is important that the terminals are closely spaced. This means that the distribution distance by truck will be shorter. It also means that the intermodal transports can attract more goods. You also move the goods in front of you all the time. Not like today with terminal traffic where the goods sometimes have to be driven back because there are no terminals near the destination.

With close terminal location, handling becomes more local in nature. There is therefore a natural connection with the local LBC companies to be responsible for the terminals' operations. Only local transport means that the drivers stay in the resort. No foreign riders come into question either.

Local terminal type

At the top, a simple terminal of CCT Intermodal where the ant handles transshipment of unit loads under existing power lines. Only ISO containers and swap bodies. Handling cost SEK 75 - SEK 120 per unit load

Terminal with endpoint traffic

On the left, a terminal that was used in end-point traffic. Handles all unit loads, even the trailer. The train must be shifted down to a conductor-free area to be able to handle a forklift or crane. This means that transhipment costs of SEK 450 -1200 are not unusual. The state steps in and subsidizes the handling costs. The transport distance must be over 50 miles to be considered.

Researchers have also pointed out that the way intermodal transport is carried out must be changed. From traffic according to endpoint traffic to being line traffic. More goods and faster and more environmentally friendly transport. What is now being pointed out by the EU that 75% of all road transport will be transferred to rail transport or sea transport, can focus on the fact that the system must be changed. When you look at the picture, you clearly understand that it is line traffic that will apply to the intermodal transports in the future. An efficient transport structure can be built up at low costs.
